In the upcoming week, we will be doing math assessments, in order to place your child in the class which will be best suited to their needs and helping them succeed in math this year. Our goal is to have students placed in math classes by Monday, September 5th, however it may take a few extra days to start math (given the number of students we need to assess in 4-6th grade).
Once we begin math, the first unit students will be working on is "Prime Time" which is a review (for most students) of Factors and Multiples.
UPDATE: Almost all of our 6th Graders have completed the review in "Prime Time," and we will be moving on, on Monday, October 3rd, to "Bits and Pieces I" which is a review of understanding fractions, decimals, and percents. This is a crucial review for students, as it is "real world" math. Both 6th Grade Math classes will also begin doing their first PBL Math Project on Zero Waste Lunch, at the end of October/start of November. Please stay tuned for more details!
