This week in science, Rashid worked with our students extensively, setting up their Science Journals, and beginning the first unit of "Investigation" with the question, "Why Am I The Way I Am?"
The class looked at a variety of different sketches by prominent scientists and thinkers, including Leonardo Da Vinci, to get ideas about how to set up their journals, and reviewed how to take scientific notes, record observations, and data.
Students also began talking about inherited traits, genetics, learned behaviors, and environmental factors and how they influence who and what we are. The question students and Rashid will be exploring the the upcoming week will be "Are Dominant Traits Always More Common?"
Students will also be participating in the CIESE: Human Genetics Project, and will be participating in a project which will: Survey phenotypic traits of classmates and schoolmates, Compile data with students from around the world, and Analyze data to determine if the prevalent phenotypes are the dominant allele.

Our Scientific Investigators have done amazing work this week, and we are extremely excited about seeing how far they progress in their learning this year!
